you can't .. as a former member you should know that. what did it for you? was it something someone said? or did you decide for yourself to look into things? they are proggramed to expect people talking badly about them and it inforces the fact they are the only true religion. its a long ride and it may never end. but i think you already know that. love her for who she is and hope for the best. pray if you beleive it will help, but theres no silver bullet. if there is please let me know...

What's the best way to reason with and help your wife to give up her JW religion?
by lifelong humanist ini dad myself 6 years ago, and was quite surprised that my wife (of 38 years) did not follow suit.
perhaps this is because her father and brother are still active jws, and she doesn't want them to shun her the way that they have done to me.. so, my wife is still a jw, albeit losing interest in her religion.
as far as i know, she doesn't even go door to door anymore.

Since leaving the witnesses....
by LouBelle inmy life has been an absolute joy.
i didn't realise how unhappy i was and how much tension, angst and animosity i actually carried around with me when in that faith - it was always us against them, with regards to everything.
i wasn't allowed to just be myself, to be free to express myself - and by that i don't mean being sexually immoral, drinking and passing out...i just mean plain and simple me laughing, joking, sleeping in, playing sports, healty compition, buy a gift for my mother on mothers' day, celebrating a birthday of someone i love (all those beautiful little things that make a person unique you know).. my life now is free, happy, mostly full of joy and peace.

Unbelieving Husband's Status
by I quit! inthis thought came up while i was thinking of michael jackson's father joe.
i'm not sure if he was witness or one of those husbands that shows up for the memorial and an occasional public talk.
anyway here is what i've noticed.

me = UBM. I m pretty much ignored by the elders, and MS's. when i say ignored i mean just that. like i don't exist for the most part. Their wifes generally are nicer, women in general in the cong. will at least exchange greetings.

MEN - when did you finally understand/ forgive your Dad?
by hamsterbait inmost men will agree that in the teens they all fall out with and disagree with their father.. when did you start to understand where he was coming from?.
i remember a poem, where the writer describes how he always thought his dad was mean and intransigent.
he is lighting the boiler in the morning, and starts remembering how all through his childhood, the house was heated when he got up, and like his own father he cleans everybodys shoes before they get up on sunday.. i think it is only when you go through a similar crisis to the father, or finally have rebelling sons that true understanding kicks in.. i was vile to my father whilst he was dying of cancer.

i never understood my dad. he was a drinker and didn't seems to care about us. until he was on his death bed.
i have forgiven him. just can't forget the injustice of it all. he had everything and didn't want it. sad man really

i married and still am to witness. we were young and i didn't know enough about the religion. i would say follow your heart, but keep your eyes open. if your getting married with the hope of her leaving the jw's, then thats a wrong foot to start off on. theres a lot of compromise and its ALL on your behalf. period.. you give up alot, thats just plain fact. is it worth it.. thats a tough call to make. i have been married over 20 years and if i could turn the clock back. i wouldn't do it again. life is too short and you are always second to the org. always. i love my wife with all my heart. and i hate the witness religion just as much. its a lot to carry around.

Come Be My Follower - my wife is making the son read this with her
by insearchoftruth inmy wife has gotten another renewed zeal for the wts, well due to his own misbehaving (and i am sure conversations with the dubs on how to get him better) she has decided to make him read come be my follower.. am pretty sure i have a pdf of this..... my stepson is pretty good at thinking for himself and i have already shown him stuff on 1975 and other questionable teachings, last night when she finished reading chapter one with him, he stepped out of the room, looked at me and said "that was hell".. anyone here have any thoughts on this book, i think she is going to read it with him (and he is almost 16) so i would like to provide him a leading question or two, maybe this can cause her to think as well.. thanks,.

the real simple solution is this.. just say no. at 16 your step son can say "mom, i really don't want to do this"

Money and the BORG...
by cognac init seems to me that most of the borgs growth now is from 3rd world countries and from uneducated, poorer people.
i don't believe this was the case years ago.
and, there are a lot in that are stuck in.

i don't think folks gave in the best of times. now forget it. they look for the better off people to contribute. i see a lot of jelously around the poorer vs the well off. i don't think its gonna be cash that will kill them. time is their enemy as i see it. time passes and people just don't care. can't have a doomsday cult forever. it just won't sustain. with all this "end of days " press, they are making their own bed. heres hoping anyway
